Group classes are a great way to get your learning on and make some new friends at the same time! We have two different options depending on your pupper’s age.
Power Puppy Class
$150 for 6 weeks
This class provides your puppy with the perfect mix of learning and play. We will discuss major puppy topics such as bite inhibition and play styles as well as teach puppies six basic behaviors. Frequent and short play breaks provides a fun atmosphere and gives parents the opportunity to practice handling puppies in distracting and everyday scenarios. Talk about some great socialization! All puppies, upon completing all 6 classes, may chose to test to be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Program, an incentive program by the American Kennel Company to reward responsible owners. For more information, please visit their website.
Requirements: Puppies must be 8-20 weeks of age when enrolled, have at least two set of vaccinations, and have a negative fecal test.
Classes are Wednesday evenings at 6:30 or 7:00PM (depending on your progress in class). You may enroll at any time!
Canine Sidekick Class
$150 for 6 weeks
This is a great beginner class for dogs 5 months and older. At the conclusion of class, your new canine sidekick will be fluent in six basic obedience behaviors. This is a fun and interactive way to build and strengthen your relationship!
Requirements: All dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations and be dog-friendly.
Classes are Saturday mornings at 9AM. A new session begins every 6 weeks (unless otherwise noted).
Packages: The Great Canine Sidekick ($225) includes the 6 week class and 1 one-hour in home private lesson. The Super Canine Sidekick ($350) includes the 6 week class and 3 one-hour in-home private lessons.

Group Class FAQ’s
1. How many other dogs will be in class?
We keep all classes small and max out the number to 6 dogs.
2. What do I need to bring to class?
All dogs must be wearing a snap-buckle collar and be leashed with a 4-6′ leash (no retractable or bungee leases). Parents are also asked to bring a treat pouch, high value treats, a long lasting chew (think bully stick or frozen Kong), and a toy.
3. What vaccinations are required?
All dogs must be up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations. This includes Bordetella, Rabies, Distemper and Parvo. Proof of vaccinations must be submitted.
4. Where are classes located?
Currently, all classes are held at Pet Wants San Antonio North, 5123 N Loop 1604, Suite 105, 78249
5. What does “Dog Friendly” mean?
All participants must be dog-friendly which means they get along with other dogs and are not dog-aggressive. Even though group play is only allowed in the Power Puppy class, close contact with other dogs may not be the most appropriate setting for all dogs.
6. Why should I choose group classes?
Group classes are a great way to get a lot of learning done with a smaller price tag. Group classes are appropriate for dogs who are beginning training, as well as dogs who have already learned the behaviors but need to practice amidst distractions.
7. When can I start?
The Power Puppy class has open enrollment, so feel free to jump in at any week! The Canine Sidekick Class usually begins every 6 weeks (depending on holidays and other special events).
8. What if I have to miss a session?
If you are enrolled in the Power Puppy Class, you have eight weeks to complete your six weeks of training. For those enrolled in the Canine Sidekick Class, unfortunately there are no opportunities to make up classes. We recommend making it to at least 5 of the 6 sessions.
9. How do I sign up?
