Puppy PreSchool
Tuesdays & Thursdays
Our puppy program is the ultimate training experience for puppies younger than 6 months. This all-day program will progress your puppy through our three pillars of puppyhood: Basic Manners, Play Manners, and Positive Conditioning. The curriculum restarts every 5 days and each puppy will advance at their own skill level. The day will consist of individual training (per our general curriculum), structured naps and rest time, mental enrichment, and group play.
Basic Manners: We work on all the puppy basics including name recognition, sit, down, stay, leash manners, no jumping, leave it and more! While the curriculum is generalized, we will do our best to customize words and rules to your preference. Be sure to fill out our Puppy Program Intake Form.
Play Manners: Understanding and responding correctly to social cues is an important skill all puppies must learn. While their furry mom started this lesson, it is imperative to keep proper socialization as part of a puppy’s routine to ensure long lasting results. Our socialization not only focuses on proper play skills, but also self-regulation even in stimulating environments.
Positive Conditioning: There are going to be lots of things your puppy will encounter throughout their life- sights, sounds, smells, you name it! Our program lays the foundation of proper exposure to commonly scary things such as vacuum cleaners, people in hoodies or hats, and water.

FAQ’s
How does this program differ from the other programs PPA offers?
This program was specifically designed for puppies with still-developing brains. Traditional daycare may expose your growing puppy to too much stimulation whereas this program offers lots of breaks and smaller groups. This program also has individual training built in with one of our qualified puppy trainers! However, because it is a generalized curriculum, you don’t pay the Day Training price.
Does my puppy qualify for this program?
Any puppy under the age of 6 months would be perfect for this program! It is our default program unless you have specific training goals.
What if my puppy doesn't have all their vaccinations?
Proper socialization should take place during a puppy’s critical socialization window, which occurs before all core vaccinations are given. We take all precautions to ensure a clean and safe environment and that all visiting dogs are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations.
Your puppy is more than welcome to join us as long as they have received their initial vaccination and one booster of their Distemper vaccine and an initial vaccination of their Bordetella vaccine. Your puppy may be too young for the Rabies vaccine and that is ok!
Learn all about the importance of starting training earlier rather than later by reading the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior’s stance here.
How long can my puppy partake in this program?
Because puppies grow, develop and mature at different levels, graduation from the program is on a case-by-case basis. In general, puppies may graduate as early as 5 months of age and no later than 6 months of age. Upon graduation, we will discuss what are next best steps- group daycare, further training, etc.
What if I have very specific things I want my puppy to learn?
Our puppy program offers a generalized training curriculum. If you are seeking specific training goals, we recommend looking into our Day Training program or private lessons.
What does a daily schedule look like?
Every day may look a little different as we will cater to the puppies present. In general, your puppy will rotate between group socialization, training, and rest periods.
The fun will kick off at 9am and wind down around 4:00pm. Pick up before 5pm to speak with the trainer. All puppies will get a fun report card sent digitally complete with pictures and videos of play and training sessions.
